BOULDER, Colo. — A bicyclist was fatally struck by a semitruck in Boulder County on Wednesday night.
The crash happened near 28th Street and Arapahoe Avenue about 6 p.m., the Boulder Daily Camera reports.
The truck driver “didn’t automatically know” they had hit the bicyclist and had to be tracked down by officers, the Camera reported.
Police told the newspaper that the driver was cooperating with officers.
The bicyclist, identified as Dum Gurung in his his 60s, was riding against traffic at the time of the crash, eyewitnesses told the Camera.
The truck “was coming northbound (on 28th) and turned right on Arapahoe,” a witness told the newspaper. “The front part of the truck had cleared the intersection, and the cyclist seemed to have been hit by the middle of the truck and then run over by the rear wheels.”
It’s the fifth bicyclist to be killed in Boulder County since late May, the Camera reported.
