Jefferson County middle school teacher arrested for sexual assault of minor

CONIFER, Colo. — A physical education teacher at West Jefferson Middle School who is also an assistant football coach at Conifer High School was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of sexual assault of a minor, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Michael Steven Bueno, 47, was found with a 17-year-old female who had been reported as a runaway about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

About 90 minutes later, Bueno was found with the teen at a family-owned cabin in Pine, according to investigators.

“Several open containers of alcohol were present and Bueno was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class 4 felony,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

Bueno was also charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, a class 3 felony.

Bond has not yet been set.
