ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — They say when it comes to love, if you’re meant to be with someone, you’ll end up with that one. And one Florida couple is living proof of that.
From the moment Amy Giberson and Justin Pounders met on Match.com, they knew they had a special connection, but they didn’t know they actually knew each other from preschool.
“I saw her photo and for whatever reason, was instantly drawn to her,” Pounders told People magazine. “She just had this great energy, you could tell. I can’t explain it, but I knew I had to get to know this girl.”
I love when Facebook reminds me of all the great memories of our first year together! If only I knew then, what I know now…I would've tried to get more sleep in preparation for this awesome journey we're living!! ABC News reports it took them about a month to figure out just how much they had in common.
“He pointed out a scar above his eye. He proceeded to tell me how he [had] gotten it from falling off monkey bars at preschool. He then said, ‘Sunshine Preschool,'” Giberson told ABC News, realizing that was the same school she attended as a child.
Pounders then told his now-wife, “Don’t you remember me telling you my first crush was a girl named Amy?”
“That’s when I lost it. I knew right then, I was this Amy,” Giberson said.
Eight months later, their theory was confirmed when Pounders’ mother found a class photo with the two of them.
https://www.facebook.com/Preschoolsweethearts/ "You don't find love, it finds you. It's got a little bit to do with destiny, fate and what's written in the stars"💗🌠 My mind is completely blown after finally seeing a picture of us from preschool and we're sitting right next to each other!!!! We spent the majority of our lives in the same town, knew the same friends, went to the same events on the same nights & never crossed paths again until we were 32. When he told me he liked the name Amy because he had a crush on a little girl in preschool named, Amy, I never thought it was actually me until we found out we went to the same preschool at the same time. Now, to see this pic…it just blows my mind to see we were glued to each other even during our playground days. The happiness, love & laughter this man brings my life everyday is overwhelming and I couldn't be more blessed to call him mine. I love you, baby!!!! 😍😘💗 #preschoolsweethearts #didyoueverwonderaboutme #fate
“It blew my mind because I was already so in love with Justin,” Giberson said. “This connection just proved to me what my heart already felt — he was my soulmate.”
“Our hearts found a connection at 3 years old very innocently, but it was enough to recognize it again 30 years later,” Giberson said.
The couple married earlier this month.
And just like that, I finally knew what it was like to be truly loved in return. Thank you for making me your wife, baby!! 💗😘 📸: ROOHI PHOTOGRAPHY @justinpounders @roohiphoto #preschoolsweethearts #love #fate #destiny #wedding #ido #photography #firstdance #husband #wife #thepounders #happilyeverafter #dtsp #happiness @match #perfectmatch 💗
“I was hopeful that those love stories Nicholas Sparks wrote about were actually real and that I’d have a great love one day. But I never expected this,” Giiberson told Cosmopolitan about her magical relationship.
The couple believes Pounders’ former fiancee, who died, is his guardian angel, and it was that helped reunite the pair.
