Police search for leads in homicide of 77-year-old man in Cheesman Park neighborhood

DENVER — Detectives are looking for clues into the death of a 77-year-old man who was found bleeding in the Cheesman Park neighborhood last week, the Denver Police Department said Monday.

Police said they responded about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to the area of East 13th Avenue and North Marion Street on a report of a man bleeding.

Officers found 77-year-old Lewis Easterday suffering from multiple sharp-force injuries. He was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he later died.

Police do not have any suspect information or what might have led to the man’s death.

Someone claiming to be Easterday’s grandchild¬†posted on Craigslist that Easterday was “murdered” and that he was a veteran.
