Colorado State Patrol Trooper Cody Donahue

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Funeral arrangements were announced Monday for the Colorado State Patrol trooper who was fatally struck by a semitruck on Interstate 25 last week.

Trooper Cody Donahue, 34, was investigating a crash on Interstate 25 on Friday afternoon when he was hit by the truck driven by 41-year-old Noe Gamez-Ruiz, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to an obituary posted Monday, the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Denver First Church of Nazarene (3800 E. Hampden Ave.) in Englewood.

Gamez-Ruiz was arrested shortly after the crash and posted bond early Saturday morning. He has been charged him with careless driving resulting in death and failure to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle.

Donahue, an 11-year veteran, leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Flying Wheels Foundation (15055 S. Golden Road, Golden).

A GoFundMe account has been established to help Donahue’s family.
