Police end search for armed robbery suspect in Thornton

THORNTON, Colo. — One suspect was taken into custody and another was on the loose after an armed robbery at a Motel 6 on Monday morning, the Thornton Police Department said.

A female employee of the motel at 6 W. 83rd Place said two armed men robbed her about 8 a.m.

The suspects fled, but one was captured by police. A second suspect was at large near East 88th Avenue and Grant Street.

Police set up a perimeter and were searching through several units in an apartment complex north of American Furniture Warehouse looking for the suspect. The search was called off about 11 a.m.

The suspect is described as a black man about 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Businesses in the area were placed on lockdown as police searched for the suspect.

Police did not say if the motel employee was injured.
