Police find handcuffed suspect who escaped patrol vehicle
LOVELAND, Colo. — A handcuffed man who escaped from a patrol vehicle after being arrested Wednesday night has been found, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.
William Morgan, 37, was arrested for an outstanding felony failure to appear drug warrant after deputies went to a home in the 700 block of 16th Street Southwest about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
After Morgan was handcuffed and put into the patrol vehicle without incident, deputies arrested Harmony Schoenfelder, 36, for an outstanding misdemeanor failure to appear disorderly conduct warrant.
As Schoenfelder was being arrested, a deputy returned to the vehicle to check on Morgan but found he had escaped.
Several law enforcement resources were deployed and a perimeter was set up with help from the Loveland Police Department. A K-9 track was not successful and Morgan was not found.
Deputies found Morgan on Thursday afternoon after a search of the area and video from nearby businesses.
He was found in the 700 block of 16th Street in Loveland. Morgan was holed up in an apartment.
An internal investigation has been started to determine how Morgan escaped.
