Injured Grand Junction police officer fatally shoots suspect

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — An injured Grand Junction police officer fatally shot a suspect during an incident early Friday morning.

The Grand Junction Police Department said the officer suffered minor injures after being dragged or pinned by the suspect’s vehicle.

The incident happened near South Ninth Street and Pitkin Avenue just after midnight.

Police have not said what led to the shooting or how the officer got pinned by the vehicle.

The name, age and gender of the suspect have not been released.

“The multi-jurisdictional Critical Incident Response Team will be the lead agency in this investigation, as is standard procedure with any officer involved shooting,” police said in a statement.
