CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- One person was shot and a suspect is being sought after a carjacking and a high-speed chase early Thursday morning, the Denver Police Department.

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. when police responded to a report of a shooting at Stone Night Club at 4842 Morrison Road.

Police found two males who appeared to be victims of a robbery and one was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being shot.

Police said the suspect stole a newer red Camaro. Officers spotted the vehicle near East Dartmouth Avenue and South Havana Street, and began a high-speed chase down southbound Interstates 225 and 25.

Law enforcement from the Colorado State Patrol and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office joined in the chase, but speeds were so high that officials lost contact with the vehicle near Happy Canyon Road.

Police said the vehicle doubled back and went north on Interstate 25, and the suspect ditched the vehicle near East Arapahoe Road and South Glencoe Street in Arapahoe County.

Officials are searching for a Hispanic male in his 20s. He's described as 5-foot-8 with a tattoo on his face. He was seen wearing a blue hoodie.
