Introducing ‘FOX31 Problem Solvers: Serving Those Who Serve’

Serving Those Who Serve

DENVER — FOX31 Denver, KDVR-TV, announces the kickoff of FOX31 Problem Solvers: Serving Those Who Serve. This initiative builds on the stories FOX31 has been telling for years by shining a spotlight on our military and their families. Through the comprehensive initiative, veterans, active service members, their families, and volunteers who serve our military will share their stories with the community, as well as connect with resources and organizations that serve our military men and women.

“We are very excited to kick off this important campaign,” said Joan Barrett, Vice President and General Manager of KDVR-TV/KWGN-TV. “Colorado has a rich military history and presence as well as a sizable veteran population. For us to be able to showcase these brave men and women and their families, as well as offer guidance to resources, is an exciting step forward for FOX31 and our community.”

FOX31 Problem Solvers: Serving Those Who Serve will kick-off with a television special on Thursday night, November 10 at 9:30 p.m. on FOX31. Join Jeremy Hubbard as he travels with members of the Greatest Generation as they return to the European battlefields of their youth. The special “Where Heroes Rest” explores the close connection between Colorado and WWII history, including never-before-seen photographs and voices from the Tenth Mountain Division.

FOX31 Denver will also be participating in and presenting at the Colorado Veterans Project’s Veteran Day weekend parade and festival at Civic Center Park on Saturday, November 11 and walk/run at City Park on November 12. Look for our FOX31 Pinpoint Weather BEAST and members of our team as we celebrate and pay tribute to our veterans. We hope you will join us.

We will also air two military-focused specials in November: “Homeland Diaries: America’s Veterans”, is a 60-minute documentary produced by Tribune Broadcasting that highlights the struggle and resilience of our military as they navigate life post-service. This special is set to air Saturday, November 12 at 4 p.m. on FOX31. “America Salutes You,” a concert honoring those who serve in the military, veterans and their families, will air on FOX31 on November 26 at 4 p.m. The concert will be taped at the Rosemont Theater outside of Chicago and performers include pop legend Cyndi Lauper, multi -platinum selling singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw, country music legend Wanda Jackson, rapper Hoodie Allen, Gospel Grammy winner CeCe Winans, world-renowned tenor Anthony Kearns, bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs and many others.

In addition, as part of Serving Those Who Serve, FOX31 Denver will be honoring a hero who exemplifies what it means to serve our country. Of course, heroes come in many shapes and sizes: active military, veterans, military families, volunteers who make a difference in the lives of those who serve – even pooches who give their lives in the service of our military men and women. We will be telling their stories, honoring the work they do and giving back a little to those who give so much. If you know of a hero who exemplifies extraordinary courage and commitment, we’d love to hear from you! Click here to fill out a nomination form.
