EVERGREEN, Colo. — Several parents protested outside a charter school on Wednesday morning to protest the firing of six faculty members.
The protest was held in the parking lot of Rocky Mountain Academy of Evergreen.
A seventh- and eighth-grade science teacher, a seventh- and eighth-grade math teacher, a seventh- and eighth-grade social studies teacher, a middle school music teacher, a middle school dean and an elementary school dean were fired.
According to parents, the teachers were escorted from the school property by members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in front of students.
An official reason for the terminations has not been released, but parents said it was because of “conflicts” between faculty members and executive director Roberta Harrell.
Last week, all but one voting member of the academy’s school board resigned. The only remaining voting board member is Harrell.
