DENVER -- Christina Kane spent years proudly serving as a military flight medic and helicopter hoist operator, but now she's fighting a different battle at the MileHouse Apartments near Denver's Tech Center.
She said other people without permits have parked in her assigned space for the disabled at least “20 to 30 times” and asks, “why the laziness, why the disrespect?”
Kane is recovering from surgery and many times has to endure calling tow trucks or the police before being able to get home and rest.
She said the worst thing is that since the garage is security accessed, her neighbors are the culprits.
Kane added that the apartment management has not properly responded to her attempts to find a better solution.
Not knowing what else to do, Kane decided to start taking pictures of the violators’ cars and showed them to the FOX31 Problem Solvers.
The Problem Solvers approached the management about what could be done. A representative pointed out the complex does have a security patrol officer, but did not offer a formal statement.
Kane said living with the problem is wearing her down and adds, “I'm a 48 year old female decrepit veteran with mobility issues and I don't count.”
She said she plans to file a formal civil rights complaint against the company on Thursday.
