It’s sprinkler blowout time

DENVER -- It's that time of year again.  A fall ritual.  Just about everyone's doing it.

It's time to blow it out your grass.  The water in your sprinkler system, that is.

"You need a large, powerful compressor.  You're gonna need a screwdriver and you're gonna need a pet cock attachment," said Jevard Hitch with the Association of Landscape Contractors of Colorado.

A compressor runs about $900, Hitch said.

Hitch recommends letting the experts blow out the lines.

"No. 1, it's going to be done right.  No. 2, you have recourse if it's done wrong. And No. 3 it saves you the time and headaches for trying to figure out how to do something that you really have no interest in," Hitch said.
