Lockout lifted on 5 Westminster schools after armed robbery suspect eludes police perimeter

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A lockout at five schools was lifted Tuesday afternoon after an armed robbery suspect escaped a police perimeter, the Westminster Police Department said.

The robbery happened in a parking lot of a Planet Fitness at West 72nd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. Police said a woman was robbed but was not injured.

A large perimeter was set up by police in the area as they looked for the suspect. But the suspect was able to get out of the perimeter, police said.

Westminster High School, Harris Park Elementary School, Hidden Lakes High School, STEM Academy and Thompson Elementary School were placed on lockout during the search.

Police have not released a description of the suspect or what led to the robbery. No injuries were reported.
