ExpressToll passes for motorcyclists on I-25 and U.S. 36 no longer needed

DENVER — Motorcyclists will no longer need to use an ExpressToll pass to use the HOV Express Lanes beginning Saturday, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

It applies to the Express Lanes on Interstate 25 and U.S. 36. It does not apply to the Express Lanes that do not offer HOV, including the Northwest Parkway, E-470 and the Interstate 70 Mountain Express Lane.

“CDOT and (High Performance Transportation Enterprise) responded to feedback from the motorcycle community and eliminated the sticker passes for motorcyclists, which makes their use of the lanes easier,” HPTE director David Spector said.

Beginning Jan. 1, the Express Lanes will transition from HOV 2 to HOV 3, meaning a driver would need at least two passengers as well as a switchable HOV tranponder to use the Express Lanes for free.
