Snowmaking begins at Loveland, Copper Mountain

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. -- Snowmaking operations began at two ski areas on Monday night.

Loveland Ski Area and Copper Mountain began making snow for the 2016-17 ski season.

Loveland, which annually battles Arapahoe Basin to be the first to ski are to open for the season, said it hopes for the first runs to come sometime in mid- to late October.

Copper Mountain said it will open for the season at 9 a.m. Nov. 11.
