Pedestrian struck by tire in east Denver

A pedestrian was struck by a tire at East Colfax Avenue and Monaco Parkway on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016.

DENVER — A pedestrian was struck by a tire that flew off a truck early Monday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

The incident happened after 6 a.m. at East Colfax Avenue and north Monaco Parkway. The extent of the injuries to the pedestrian is not known.

The incident closed the intersection for nearly an hour. It reopened just after 7 a.m.

The name, age and gender of the pedestrian are not known. It’s not known if the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

It’s not known how exactly the tire fell off the vehicle. No additional information was immediately available from police.
