DENVER — A small grass fire broke out near West Bowles Avenue just west of C-470 about 1:50 p.m. Sunday, the West Metro Fire Department said.
A tweet from West Metro Fire said erratic winds in the area were pushing the fire to the top of a hogback.
Thirty firefighters, six engines and five brush trucks arrived on the scene to keep the fire from spreading.
Officials said Sunday night that three acres had burned and the fire was fully percent contained. No structures were damaged and there were no injuries. Crews will finish mopping up Monday morning.
West Metro Fire said an illegal campsite nearby might have started the fire, but the situation is still under investigation.
