Olympic medalists from Colorado to throw out first pitch Sunday

DENVER — Emma Coburn and Jenny Simpson, two 2016 Olympic bronze medalists and University of Colorado alumnae, will throw out ceremonial first pitches before the Rockies’ final game of the 2016 season.

The Rockies will take on the Milwaukee Brewers at Coors Field on Sunday.

Coburn, a six-time All-American and three-time NCAA champion while at University of Colorado, won the bronze medal in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In that event, she set an American record of 9:07.63.

Jenny Simpson, a seven-time All-American and four-time NCAA champion at University of Colorado, won the bronze medal in the 1500 meter at the 2016 Olympics.

The duo represent the first American women to medal in each of their respective events.
