ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — A man has been cited in the July theft of a Broncos helmet that was taken from a team practice in July, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Vincente Baros, 33, of Arvada, was issued a summons, the sheriff’s office said. The theft happened July 31 as players were signing autographs for fans during training camp at the team’s training facility.

An unidentified player set the helmet on the ground as he greeted fans when the helmet was swiped.

Investigators released photos of the suspect and a second man he passed the helmet to. Both men were seen leaving the practice facility together with what appeared to be a family.

The stolen helmet was a Riddell Revolution Speed Classic with a Broncos logo that was valued at more than $400.

The sheriff’s office received numerous tips after authorities sought the public’s help in identifying Baros.
