Police release photos of alleged Westminster Wal-Mart purse snatcher

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Photos of a woman who allegedly snatched a purse in a Wal-Mart parking lot in June were released Thursday by the Westminster Police Department.

The suspect is seen with a child in a shopping cart and she appears to be driving a white minivan, police said.

The incident happened about 5:45 p.m. on June 7. Police said a man and a woman had finished shopping at the Wal-Mart at 9499 Sheridan Blvd. and when the man returned the shopping cart to the corral, he forgot to remove his wife’s purse.

After leaving the parking lot, the family returned to the lot and discovered the purse had been taken.

An unknown witness said she saw a woman run up to the cart and take the purse before diving out of the lot in a minivan.

Wal-Mart provided surveillance photos of the suspect to police, who released them to the public.

Anyone with information about the woman or the incident is asked to call Westminster police at 303-658-4244 or Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
