Woman charged after having 2 children with underage teenage boy

DENVER -- A 33-year-old woman has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage boy -- and the Denver District Attorney's Office said they had two children as a result of the relationship.

Prosecutors said the relationship began when Alicia Hernandez was 29 and the boy was 14. Prosecutors said Hernandez initially met the boy in a park.

According to the arrest affidavit, the Denver Police Department received a report of an inappropriate sexual relationship from the Denver Department of Human Services.

The victim told police he met Hernandez at Garfield Park and told her he was 18. After a year, the two had sex and Hernandez got pregnant. The first child was born in June 2013.

Hernandez got pregnant again and gave birth to a second child in January 2015.

Hernandez has been charged with sexual assault on a child, a felony, and sexual assault with a 10-year age difference, a misdemeanor.

Hernandez has been released from custody on a $50,0000 bond. She is due back in court for her second advisement on Oct. 18.

The status of the children is not known.
