Shots fired at officers at East Colfax Avenue and Tamarac Street during a traffic stop on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016.

DENVER — Shots were fired as officers were making a traffic stop early Thursday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. at East Colfax Avenue and Tamarac Street.

As officers were making a traffic stop, another vehicle drove by and shot at the officers.

Police said they are searching for an unknown type of vehicle that is white in color. Police have told officers to use caution when making traffic stops.

Police have not released any suspect information. There were no reported injuries.
