Jefferson County Public Schools janitor accused of sexting 13-year-old

GOLDEN, Colo. -- A Jefferson County Public Schools janitor was arrested Monday, accused of sexting a 13-year-old girl, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.

Jacob Deal, 21, is being held on suspicion of internet sexual exploitation of a child. The custodian at Dutch Creek Elementary School (7304 W. Roxbury Place) and Ken Caryl Middle School (6509 W. Ken Caryl Ave.), made his first court appearance Tuesday morning.

Deal is accused of leaving handwritten messages to two sixth-grade female students at Dutch Creek Elementary School in the late spring, complimenting them on their looks.

The girls reported the messages, but it was not known at the time who left them, the sheriff's office said.

On Aug. 26, the sheriff's office said Deal began texting one of the girls that ended with him sending nude photos of himself. The girl reported the incident to school authorities, leading to his arrest.

Deal has been suspended from the district.
