Black+Decker recalls blowers because of injury risk

DENVER — Black+Decker and the Consumer Product Safety Commission are recalling more than 500,000 blowers because of a possible laceration hazard.

The recall involves Black + Decker 3 in 1 electric blower, vacuum and mulchers with model number BV5600, BV6000, & BV6600.  Models involved in the recall have “Type 1” printed on the motor housing.

The CPSC said the fan cover can unlatch unexpectedly, which might cut the person using it. So far, four people have reported problems with the blowers.

More than half a million blowers sold between May 2013 and September 2016 are affected by the recall. The recall alert said the blowers were sold at stores like Lowe’s and Amazon.

The CPSC said users should stop using the blowers and contact Black + Decker for a repair kit.
