Graffiti problem causes temporary closing of Hanging Lake Trail

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — Hanging Lake Trail Springs is closed for cleaning on Saturday.

This annual workday brings together volunteers who will install barrier posts and remove graffiti.

Graffiti has become a significant problem around the lake and volunteers who take on the task of removing it say it’s a crucial task to keep the area naturally beautiful.

Annually, around 130,000 visitors hike a bit over a mile to take in the scenery at Hanging Lake.
