Sex offender charged with robbery, assaults along High Line Canal Trail
DENVER — The Denver District Attorney’s Office has formally charged a man accused of two assaults that took place on the High Line Canal Trail within a week of each other. The charges were filed last week.
Demaricus D. Bookhart , 25, has been charged with robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree assault and failure to register as a sex offender.
The charges allege Bookhart assaulted two women in separate attacks along the High Line Canal Trail on Aug. 18 and Aug. 26.
One of the victims suffered serious bodily injury, and a stolen iPod belonging to a victim was recovered from Bookhart’s belongings.
Bookhart is being held on a $50,000 bond. He is due in Denver County Courtroom for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 26.
