Denver’s Bicycle Bandit charged with murder, assault, robbery
DENVER — The Denver District Attorney’s Office has formally charged a man accused of a string of robberies as well as the attempted murder of police officers after a confrontation earlier this week.
Shawn Scott, 40, is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder of an officer, first-degree assault, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and five counts of robbery.
He has been dubbed the so-called Bicycle Bandit.
On Sept. 5, 2105, the Denver Police Department responded to the area of West Third Avenue and Osage Street on a report of a man with a gun.
The charges allege that Scott, who was already wanted in connection with numerous robberies, fired on police officers when they tried to arrest him.
Scott remains in custody in the Denver Detention Center on a $100,000 bond on the attempted murder charges, and $5,000 on the robbery charges.
He is scheduled to appear Denver court on Wednesday.
