Police investigate 2 attacks on women on Highline Canal trail

DENVER -- The Denver Police Department wants to know if the same suspect is responsible for two attacks on women walking along a popular bike path.

The attacks happened along the same stretch of the Highline Canal near East Dartmouth Avenue and South Forest Street about a week apart.

The latest attack happened about noon Friday.

A good Samaritan who stopped to help the woman said the suspect just walked up and punched her.  He said she was scared but managed to take the attacker's picture as he ran away.

The  neighbor said the next day he saw a man skateboarding along the same stretch of the bike path and it looked like a composite picture of the suspect.

He and another man kept an eye on the suspect while they called police, who arrested the man.

He's identified as 25-year-old DeMarcus Bookhart.  Police are not releasing his picture because they want to show it to the victims and possible witnesses.
