Gravel truck fatally hits flagger in road construction zone

WELD COUNTY, Colo. -- A gravel truck hit and killed a road construction worker Weld County on Friday night.

It happened at Highway 119 and County Road 5, west of Interstate 25. The victim was a flagger at the site.

There is major road construction going on at the location. Both eastbound lanes of Highway 119 are closed for road work and there are single east-west lanes in what would normally be the two westbound lanes.

Police said a gravel truck hit the flagger.

The road was closed during the investigation.
