DENVER -- Police want Capitol Hill residents to keep an out for a man stealing packages from apartment and condominium lobbies.

Video surveillance captured a man going inside a mailroom at a building in the neighborhood.

The Denver Police Department said he would use bolt cutters to cut lock boxes, then use the keys to get inside the building common area.

“Knowing there’s a thief around stealing this stuff, that’s very scary and alarming,” resident Victoria Tepliz said.

Longtime neighbors said this is nothing new for them.

“Yeah, it happened, it’s been an ongoing issue, I guess for the last month or so,” a resident said.

Some even went the extra mile to protect themselves and their belongings.

“I’ve had a P.O. Box since I’ve lived here because living in a city, you need to be at least a little concerned, I would think,” Gwyn Stitcher said.

Police said this is still an ongoing investigation. Anyone who sees the man should call 911.
