One killed in I-25 crash involving semitruck in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- One person was killed after a semitruck, red Yukon and white Chevrolet collided on Interstate 25 on Wednesday morning southeast of Fort Collins, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-25 at Harmony Road about 6:45 a.m., CSP said. CPR was performed on the driver of the Yukon, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic quickly backed up for several miles in the area as the crash was spread across two lanes of traffic. Vehicles were at a virtual standstill on the interstate, but some were getting past the scene as crews worked to investigate and clean up the crash.

The Colorado Department of Transportation reopened the interstate just before 9:45 a.m.

The name, age and gender of the person who died has not been released.
