MEAD, Colo. -- Two people were seriously injured after a semitruck carrying beer rolled over on Interstate 25 near Mead on Saturday.

The rollover caused all southbound lanes of I-25 to be closed at Highway 66 for 6 1/2 hours, the Colorado State Patrol said. The accident happened shortly after noon Saturday.

The three-vehicle accident started when an Oregon driver in a pickup lost control of the U-Haul trailer she was hauling, CSP said.

The U-Haul trailer came undone from the truck and that's when a car and the semitruck crashed trying to avoid hitting it.

The semi rolled, and the driver and a passenger were seriously injured and transported to a hospital.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.

The Oregon driver was not injured, but was ticketed for reckless driving causing serious injury, CSP said.
