LITTLETON, Colo. -- A gun store was burglarized early Wednesday morning, the second such store to be hit in the south Denver metro area in two days.

It's not known what if anything was stolen from the Triple J Armory near East County Line Road and South Broadway in Littleton during a robbery about 2 a.m.

Police said a white van slammed into the store and the passengers took an unknown amount of merchandise. The gun store owner was still doing an inventory of what was taken.

Law enforcement followed a van that matched the description of the one used in the robbery but lost it on Santa Fe Road.

A van matching the description was reported to the Denver Police Department to have crashed into two parked vehicles near West Mississippi Avenue and South Pecos Street, but the occupants fled on foot.

No suspect descriptions have been released.

Early Tuesday morning, officials said at least 29 guns were taken from Colorado Gun Broker in the 8900 block of West Bowles Avenue in Jefferson County.

Investigators said the thieves pried open the front door and a security gate, and then smashed the glass cases holding the guns. The business has surveillance cameras but they were not working.

It's unclear if the two robberies are connected.
