EVANS, Colo. -- One person was killed and two people were injured after a head-on collision Sunday night in which alcohol is suspected to be a factor, the Evans Police Department said Monday.
The crash involving a 2002 Chrysler 300 and a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu happened about 9:30 p.m. at West 37th Street and 65th Avenue, police said.
The driver of the Chrysler 300, 47-year-old Javier Orona-Berumen, crossed a double yellow line and slammed into the Malibu driven by 27-year-old Alicia Reddy, police said.
Orona-Berumen was pronounced dead at the scene. Reddy was taken to North Colorado Medical Center with minor injuries. Lucio Valles-Rios, 34, a passenger in the Chrylser 300, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and underwent surgery.
Alcohol is suspected in the crash, and police said and Orona-Berument had his driver's license revoked because he was listed as a habitual traffic offender.
