Castle Rock man, 2 from Longmont killed in southwest Colorado plane crash

CREEDE, Colo. -- Three people were killed in a small plane crash in southwestern Colorado on Wednesday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The crash of the Cessna 320 twin-engine aircraft happened near Creede in Mineral County about 2:40 p.m. The plane went down under unknown circumstances near Rio Grande National Forest Road 801 and Colorado 149.

Pilot Jere Ferrill, 51 of Castle Rock, David Louwers, 17 of Longmont, and Mykhayl Sutton, 28 of Longmont, died in the crash, the Mineral County Coroner's Office said.

Sutton works for Rocky Mountain Aerial Survey in Longmont.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
