DENVER — One Colorado ZIP code ranks in the top 10 nationwide for the most campaign contributions to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The report was compiled by the Wall Street Journal using Federal Election Commission data. It analyzed contributions by ZIP code and found an area of southeast Denver is one of the leading areas for Trump.

Denver is traditionally a left-leaning area. But the area inside the ZIP code 80237 is ranked seventh in the country for individual contributions to Trump. The neighborhood has raised $10,800 for him since January 2015.

The 80237 ZIP code sits just north of the Denver Tech Center near Interstates 25 and 225. It is the only one in Colorado to make the list.

“Time to move,” Tom Peterson joked.

Peterson has lived in the Hamden South neighborhood for more than 50 years. He is a Democrat and does not support Trump. Peterson said his neighborhood has been blue for as long as he can remember, but he sees it beginning to change.

“It does surprise me that there would be even a pocket in Denver, but nothing surprises me this year,” he said.

“It surprises me,” Ron Reedholm said.

Reedholm is a Republican and has lived in the neighborhood for 12 years. He said the ranking is surprising because he believes he is one of the only Republicans in the area.

“Usually my corner is one of the few that I see with Republican signs out,” Reedholm said.

He is voting for Trump this year and said he plans to donate to the campaign too.

To put Denver’s ranking in perspective to Hillary Clinton’s campaign donations, the ZIP code that raised the seventh most money for her, in Bethesda, Md., contributed $871,332.
