Shooting in Aurora ends with chase, crash in Denver

Riverside Cemetery in north Denver

AURORA, Colo. — One person has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Aurora on Wednesday afternoon, the Aurora Police Department said.

Police said the shooting happened in an alley in the 1200 block of Yosemite Street, three blocks south of East Colfax Avenue.

According to a police spokeswoman, the suspects drove away from that location in a stolen white Toyota RAV4 and led officers on a chase northwest to the area around Riverside Cemetery at at York Street and Brighton Boulevard in Denver.

Police said the driver lost control of the SUV at a railroad crossing near a construction zone next to the cemetery. Several suspects jumped out of the vehicle and officers set up a perimeter. Three suspects were taken into custody a short time later.

Police said investigators were working to find out what led to the shooting.
