DENVER -- Major delays are possible through the weekend for drivers in downtown Denver and for some RTD light rail users.

Road closures

There will be three partial road closures in downtown Denver through the weekend.

The biggest one is southbound Speer Boulevard, which is closed from Champa Street to Colfax Avenue for light rail repair and maintenance. It will reopen at 4 a.m. Monday. Traffic will detour onto Kalamath Street during the closure.

Also closed is 13th Avenue from Pecos to Osage streets for light rail maintenance and repair work. It will reopen at 4 a.m. Monday.

And Broadway is closed from Colfax Avenue to 17th Avenue for new concrete to be installed and for other safety improvements at the Broadway and 16th Avenue intersection. It will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

RTD light rail shutdowns

Five RTD light rail lines have been partially shut down and bus service is being provided for passengers as crews perform maintenance work through the weekend.

RTD said there will be no service on the C, D, E, F and H lines north of the Interstate 25 and Broadway Station until 3 a.m. Monday. Service on the W line will not be affected.

"Passengers using the rail lines affected by the closure can expect delays and detours, and should allow extra travel time to arrive at their destination," RTD said.
