SEVERANCE, Colo. — A baby sitter has been arrested and charged in the holdup of a bank on Friday, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Rachel Einspahr, 28, is being held at the Weld County Jail in connection with the robbery at the Colorado East Bank & Trust branch in Severance on Friday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office said Einspahr passed a note to the teller through the vacuum tube at the drive-thru window just about 4 p.m. that said a man was in her vehicle who wanted money. The note said the man was threatening to harm her children.

The teller, believing lives were in danger, gave Einspahr $500. Sheriff’s investigators found Einspahr was baby-sitting the two children in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The children were not injured.

Einspahr is charged with robbery and two counts of child abuse.
