THORNTON, Colo. -- A 13-year-old boy who was reported missing Monday night was found safe Tuesday morning, the Thornton Police Department said.

Michael Powers was last seen about 7 p.m. near the library at East 120th Avenue and Holly Street.  Just after 5 a.m., police said Michael was found safe and sound at a friend's house.

Police said they believe Michael left on his own accord and that it is the second time in a week he has done this. Michael left on the night of the storm and ended up calling his parents about five to six hours later from a friend's cellphone saying he was cold, police said.
