GREELEY, Colo. — Two top administrators at Greeley West High School are under investigation after being removed from school grounds Monday morning, Greeley-Evans School District 6 said.
Principal Shelli Robins and assistant principal John Diebold were placed on paid administrative leave and were escorted off school property.
"District 6 administrators are looking into allegations of irregularities in the administration of parent surveys," the district said in a news release. "The investigation does not involve any outside agencies, nor do the allegations impact the safety of students or the school community."
“They’re good people. I mean, I don’t interact with them that much. I try to stay away from the office,” Greeley West senior Joseph Adair said.
Parent satisfaction surveys are short questionnaires the district sends home each year to gauge how schools are doing. There are about a dozen “yes” or “no” questions for parents to answer regarding safety, friendliness and overall satisfaction.
The results are sent to the district administrators and are used as part of each principal’s performance review. District 6 won’t say what Robins and Diebold are accused of doing wrong with the surveys.
Human resources will be conducting an investigation into the situation. Robins and Diebold will not be allowed back to work until the investigation is complete. It is unclear what the consequences would be if they tampered with the surveys.
“It’s shocking. They’re both pretty good people as far as I know,” student Cameron Simpkins said.
Robins has been with the school for four years after serving in other administrative roles at Westminster and Adams City high schools. Diebold is in his second year at Greeley West. He came to the school after serving as principal at Franklin Middle School, which is also in Greeley-Evans School District 6.
A letter was sent home to parents on Monday.
