Estes Park apartment building destroyed by fire

ESTES PARK, Colo. -- Six children and 14 adults and six children were displaced after a fire gutted an apartment building Friday morning.

The fire broke out about 4:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Chapin Lane. Crews from the Estes Park and Loveland fire departments battled the blaze.

The roof was gone and only the outside walls of the building were left standing.

All residents were safely evacuated and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.

The American Red Cross provided support for temporary lodging and other immediate needs for those displaced.
