DENVER — Colorado driver’s licenses and identifications card soon will have a new look in an effort to enhance security and safety.

The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles announced Monday that driver’s license offices in Littleton, Aurora and Frisco will begin piloting the new design starting Tuesday. To prepare for the launch of the new design, the offices will close for a one day.

The new design features a more colorful background that showcases Mount Sneffels. It also includes laser engraving of information and the photograph in grayscale to improve security and safety.

Although the new cards are debuting, there’s no need to renew a license before the expiration date.
