Dog killed, person taken to hospital in early-morning Centennial house fire

CENTENNIAL, Colo. — One person was taken to a hospital and a family dog died after an early-morning house fire Tuesday, South Metro Fire said.

The fire broke out in the 19100 block of East Briarwood Avenue about 12:30 a.m., officials said.

Three adults and three children were in the home when the fire started, and all were able to get out safely.

One person was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
