Second suspect sought in armed carjacking in Commerce City

Two suspects were involved in an armed carjacking in Commerce City on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Officers were looking for a second suspect who fled after a carjacking on Thursday morning, the Commerce City Police Department said.

The carjacking happened about 6 a.m. at Highway 2 and East 69th Avenue, Commerce City police Cmdr. Clint Nichols said.

A group of people were hanging out when someone pulled out a firearm and fired shots in the general area before fleeing in the vehicle they took, Nichols said.

The vehicle was found two blocks away at 69th Avenue and Ivy Street, where one person was taken into custody.

A second suspect took off on foot and police set up a perimeter and locked out schools as a precaution.

No injuries have been reported.
