Whether you’re hosting or just a guest, making a dip is a great way to ensure a nutritious option at your next party. Dips, however, can be laden with sour cream, mayo or cheese, adding a lot of fat and calories within a small portion. Here are 3 go-to’s that are all lower in fat while packed with fiber and nutrients that are sure to please all!
1. Smoky Sweet Potato Dip by HealthyAperture.com
2. Spinach Dip
10 oz package chopped frozen spinach, thawed
6 oz low-fat Greek plain yogurt
4 oz light cream cheese (1/3 less fat)
1/4 cup chopped water chestnuts
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped shredded carrots
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp each salt, onion powder, garlic powder, dill weed
1/4 tsp pepper
Combine all together and serve in a bread bowl. Serve alongside raw veggies and sprouted tortilla chips, or pita chips.
3. Edamame Hummus
2 cup shelled edamame, thawed
3 Tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup tahini
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic
1 tsp salt
Combine all in a food processor to mix well. Serve alongside whole grain sprouted tortilla chips.
