Fire in trash can stops Amtrak train in Adams County

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — One person was taken to a hospital after a small fire broke out in a trash can aboard an Amtrak train on Monday morning, the South Adams County Fire Department said.

The train made an emergency stop near Highway 2 and 88th Avenue about 7 a.m. Crews contained the fire and one person was transported with unknown injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
