Pedestrian hit by vehicle on southbound I-25 near Santa Fe

DENVER -- Two lanes of southbound Interstate 25 were shut down near Santa Fe Drive for about an hour after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

The accident happened about 5:30 a.m. and the pedestrian suffered unknown seriously bodily injuries, police said.

Traffic quickly backed up in the area to 23rd Avenue as the left two lanes were closed and traffic was being diverted.

Both lanes of traffic reopened at 6:30 a.m.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
