DENVER — Colorado Congressman Scott Tipton said there has been a spill at a mine above Crested Butte.

He said about 2,000 gallons of wastewater spilled late Wednesday at the Standard Mine while a crew with the EPA was working.

Report Thursday indicated the spilled water was not contaminated.

The EPA has not yet confirmed the spill.

The agency came under fire after a major spill from the Gold King mine into the Animas River near Durango in August.
